The VSI isn't going to be much help since it's telling you your climb
rate half an hour ago!

You need to figure out the type of flying you'll be doing, and whether
or not you'd be personally comfortable with the instruments you have
left... Imagine, bumpy IMC, in the dark, down to minimums?
