Hi All,
Quick and stupid question....has anyone else managed to wear out the
tailwheel horn??? I mean the steel plate that the chains connect to on the
top of the tailwheel. It has a slot machined in it where the locking pin
rides.
Mine is fairly worn out and the tailwheel no longer even locks at all. By
worn, I mean the little slot that the pin rides in is rounded out almost
completely. It's been progressively getting worse over the past 6 months,
but I finally have to fix it. I usually kept it greased up too, but maybe
not enough since I fly off a grass strip.....
200+hrs and 400+landings (still using same "cheap" tires, almost look new)!
Not much fun with a full swiveling tailwheel ALL the time, especially in the
wind!!
Anyway, just wondering, since I have to order another one from Van's -or-
now I can order the "go fast" rocekt tailwheel link!!!
Cheers,
Stein
