RV7
Rear spar preparations
DWG 10A Wing Exploded View
Detail C says "RV-7/7A Builder Only! See DWG 38 Rear Spar Trim Detail"
Don't have DWG 38 yet but preview plans gives the dimensions to trim the
W-707G Rear Spar Reinf. Fork and
W-707D Rear Spar Doubler Plate.
Seems it would be best to trim those before assembly of the rear spar.

I used the dimensions from the preview plans to trim the spar assembly prior
to installing it in the wing skeleton. This worked out fine on my wings.

Allen,
No, dont trim it now. The Vans dimensions suggest to take out too much metal
and this can give you problems with edge distance from a very critical wing
bolt. Save the trimming till you actually mate the wings with the fuselage,
and then only trim enough off to get the wing to sit flush with fuselage,
then drill the bolt holes.
Its a case of fit, file a bit, fit, file a bit,etc till you get flush fit
with maximum metal left on the rear spar for the bolt hole.
Regards, David Francis, Canberra, Australia.
