I will be attending the Alexander Technical Center Aluminum Sheet Metal Working/Tail Kit Construction Class in July so I am at the pre-empennage stage on the 7A. You answered some of my questions as well. Thanks much.//Larry On Jun 12, 2004, at 4:36 PM, Charlie England wrote: > --> RV7-List message posted by: Charlie England > <ceengland@bellsouth.net> > > Frank Stringham wrote: > >> --> RV7-List message posted by: Frank Stringham >> <fstringham7a@yahoo.com> >> >> >> 7A group >> >> My name is Frank Stringham and have two homes; one in Murray Utah >> (suburb of SLC) >> and St George Utah (SGU). I agree with your assessment of the Vision -- it's a terrific design, and so easily customizable in every respect that it's an experimental builder's dream. But after building the seat and getting all dusty and messy with last-a-foam and epoxy, I gave aluminum a much closer look, and liked what I saw. There is definitely a steep learning curve during the empennage construction so by the time you're done, you should be pretty good at most of the skills required for the project. Can't say whether the fast build kit is worth it for you personally. I'm on the regular kit, enjoying it for the most part, though there are times when I wouldn't mind having some of the professional work done that goes into the fast build kits. As for the old engine technology, you're not locked into the certified engines that Van's sells; it's just easier that way. I'm planning on a 13b myself. Brooks

--> RV7-List message posted by: "Wayne Reese" <waynereese@qwest.net> I have a small composite boat building business (duck hunting boats) in Salina, but I believe fiends don't let friends fly in plastic planes. I'm build a 7a but I'm just at the fuselage. John Hafen of Springville has given some a ride in his 6a. Try him at fahenjm@sisna.com.
