So, everytime I post a "dumb" question everyone says there are no "dumb"
questions. Therefore, here is just a plain old question:
In an article on flared fittings in the RVator (Third issue, 2003 page 13)
it talks about tightening the AN818 nut to the specified torque.
Question: What tool does one use for this? Obviously the standard torque
wrench and socket won't do because the pipe is there.

Crowsfoot wrenches work on a standard torque wrench.

John,
I had the same question. You can use I crowfoot wrench. See "Left Tank 7" link

Hooray for the list. Question is answered, nap is over, go buy the tool,
then back to work on the plane.
Thanks Scott and Terrance

They even make fitting type crowsfoot that have 5 of the six corners of the
hex.
If you are really anal enough to torque your fittings make sure you
compensate for the added length of the crowsfoot. One way that works is to
position the crowsfoot at right angles to the torque wrench. This makes it a
direct read almost. If you stick it out front, you will have to do some
math.
Snug so it doesn't leak is the easiest. Doesn't take much on a taper
fitting. No sealing compound should be used. And because it is a taper seal,
it is self-locking although I have seen drilled B-nuts.
If you have a leaker, use the v-seal soft washers that they use routinely in
air-conditioning.
