Listers,
I went to Sam James' forum on RV Fiberglass at OSH, and would like to know
where to order some of the Suncoast Resins "clear clay" that he recommended. A
search on the internet didn't help much. Yes, I know I can use all kinds of
other things -- just looking for the "clear clay."

Just call Suncoast in Florida if you want to order from them. Otherwise,
you can get modelers clay at Michael's or any crafts store. That's what I
did, because shipping a ton of clay from Florida was gonna cost an arm and a
leg. It's just clay...

How do those of you with CD's or MP3's amplify the output to get more
volume?

That is exactly how mine works, but the volume does not get as loud as I'd
like since it does not run through an amplifier.

If you have a GMA-340 audio panel, there's a pin on the audio connector that
you can jump to ground in order to gain a 20db boost. I have this function
switched on my panel (I always leave the boost on...makes you go faster).
It makes all the difference in the world having the level boosted like that.
If you don't have a GMA-340 or your audio panel doesn't support an internal
level boost of some sort, you can buy boosters such as:

http://www.boostaroo.com/specs.html says that the power supply voltage
is 3VDC & max output is a little under 1 volt rms into a 64 ohm load.
This output level is probably accurate, given the supply voltage. Any
music source running off the plane's 12 V battery should be capable of
at least that output level. Have you successfully used a boostaroo in an
a/c intercom system?
FWIW, Bob Nuckolls on the Aeroelectric list has a design that will
supply adequate 20 db of gain & max output of around 4 volts rms (if you
are willing to solder it up yourself).

intercom and has plenty of volume
it sits at about 25 or 30 percent volume position.
