--> RV7-List message posted by: Matt Dralle <dralle@matronics.com> Dear Listers, As I write this its still November 30th so technically the List Fund Raiser is still underway! :-) I've gotten so many nice comments from Listers in the last couple of days along with their Contributions that I just had to share them with the Lists. Guys, I really appreciate the kind words and great support that has come in the last few days. If you've been meaning to support your Lists this month but have just been putting it off until the last absolute minute, now's a perfect time to make that Contribution! http://www.matronics.com/contribution A special thank you to everyone that has already shown their support. I'm compiling the List of Contributors and will post it in a couple days. In the meantime, please read over some of the nice things people have been saying about the List along with their Contribution... Thank you!!! --> RV7-List message posted by: "Hinde, Frank George (Corvallis)" <frank.hinde@hp.com> Empty weight of the ZOD is 683lbs with a 100HP engine...They climb pretty good! I I forgot to mention my A/C is also unpainted and assembled with pop rivets...There is no sign of corosion under the rivet heads either. I'm really looking forward to building again, I have never driven a solid rivet but I hope other sheet metal skills weill give me something of a head start...:) Frank Do not archive -----Original Message----- From: owner-rv7-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rv7-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Charlie England Subject: Re: RV7-List: Primer debate (wars) --> RV7-List message posted by: Charlie England --> <ceengland@bellsouth.net> Hinde, Frank George (Corvallis) wrote: >--> RV7-List message posted by: "Hinde, Frank George (Corvallis)" >--> <frank.hinde@hp.com> > >Yes I checked the archives and read a bunch of interesting opinions on >what kind of primer to use. What do they weigh? I thought that 6061 was much weaker per pound than 2024 but not as corrosion prone (hence the alclad on 2024). It would still be more corrosion prone than the pure AL of the alclad coating on the skins, which is probably why Van's recommends priming. Charlie
