Fellow RV-7 builders,
I need some help. I am trying to fit my F-779 bottom skin and I am having a bit
of trouble. This is the 0.040 thick bottom skin that ties the last three bulkheads
together. My original skin didn't fit well. I tried to bend it by hand,
clamped it between wood blocks and put some muscle into it, but without much
success. I thought it might have been improperly formed at the factory so
I ordered an new one. Well this one is about as bad as the original. Once again
I tried to bend without success.
I may not be the strongest builder but maybe one of you have a great idea for me
to try before I break my wrists trying to muscle this skin.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Paul,
See Dam C's site Sept 4 2004. If your parts are correct maybe you don't
have the flanges bent to the right shape, they need to taper as the tail
gets narrower. Don

Just dealt with that bit myself just recently ... it requires
quite a bit of "manipulation" according to Van's builder
support line.
Can you be a bit more explicit about what's not fitting against
what ? Maybe some photos ? There's a handful of "tricks" for
getting past this hurdle, I'm sure folks around can help ...
