--> RV7-List message posted by: "tadsargent" <tadsargent@bellsouth.net> I used West Epoxy system to glue the halves together. I asked Van's and it does not matter what you use. Use nothing if you like it just makes it easier to create a bond along the length of the rudder. All of those rivets will hold together just fine. As for cracking down the road, not an issue. --> RV7-List message posted by: Dwight Frye <dwight@openweave.org> Folks have successfully used epoxy to hold the two halves together for riveting. In the end, the rivets are what holds the rudder together. However, I do know one local builder who used epoxy and found it to be less than a completely comfortable choice. As he would rivet he would hear loud cracks as the in-flexible epoxy let loose. He felt that due to that in-flexibility the rudder wasn't held as secure during the riveting process. That being said, his rudder came out straight as an arrow. I've discovered that not everyone has noticed you can purchase _small_ quantities of Proseal from Van's. The little 2.5 ounce amount would easily be enough (more than enough) for the rudder operation. I try and keep a couple of the 2.5oz Proseal packages in my fridge waiting various small sealing tasks. -- Dwight do not archive On Thu Jun 22 23:27:51 2006, J.
