Wow, what a beautiful evening for a flight in a brand new RV-8! =C2-The s
ky was clear; the clouds were few, the wind was low. =C2-I decided to fly
over to Salinas airport and clocked in at exactly 30 minutes! =C2-I was
down to about 1/3 tanks, so I gassed up. =C2-Kind of pricey, though, at $
4.75/gal. =C2-There's a really nice cafe' there at the airport so I'll de
finitely be heading back there for a greasy cheese burger at some point!
=C2-In one of the hangers I peered in and saw not only a sweet RV-8 in RE
D, but also a sweet RV-10! =C2-Turns out that both built and owned by the
same guy! =C2-Imagine, having two homebuilt airplanes! =C2-That's craz
y! =C2-Oh... =C2- =C2-
I walked around the corner and found the airplane paint shop the Livermore
airport guys have been telling me about, T&P Aero Refinishers. =C2-Best o
f all, the owner was there and I got the tour and we talked about paint job
s. =C2-He recommended against Candy Apple (transparent red over silver or
gold), because of the rivets. =C2-I guess the gold/silver pools in the r
ivets and there's no way to get a good look. =C2-But, there are some pain
ts that will give a very similar look in a single stage. =C2-He also said
that clear coating wouldn't be a problem. =C2-He's going to write me up
a quote next week, and I'm on the calendar for October 2010 to get painted!

The flight home was simply beautiful! =C2-The sun was low in the sky and
there was just enough time when I got back to Livermore to shoot about 5 or
6 touch-n-goes! =C2-The sun dropped behind the hill just as finished my
last one! =C2-Sweet!
The Airplane Flying HOBBS meter now reports 20.3 hours!! =C2-So far no ma
jor issues.
