As someone suggested I contacted Larry Vetterman on the issue of cutting off the
exhaust pipes and here is his reply:
"David, your mechanic is correct. I have tried many combinations and none
of them increased performance but some of them increased the vibration
level. So my suggestion is leave them as they are. Larry"
I think I will leave them as they are!
