Dear Listers, I pulled out all of the fuel selector valve and fuel pump goodies from the old fuselage today. I disassembled all of the various flare ends and cleaned up all the Fuel Lube with lacquer thinner making sure not to get any in the pump or valve or transducers. All but two of the fuel lines seem to be reusable and don't show any signs of damage from the Mishap. I really don't want to have to recut, rebend, and reflare all of these if I don't have to. What's the common knowledge on reusing the flares on the fuel and brake lines? Am I just asking for a bunch of leaks if I put these back into service now that I've unscrewed them? Thanks! Matt So Sorry to hear about your misshap. Happens to the best of us. As far as re-using the undamaged tubes and fittings. I have been an A&P for over 40 years 12 of them teaching aircraft mechanics.-I am also a Mechan ic's Examiner. Re-using these fittings, as long as there are no scratches o n the mating surfaces is-standard practice in the industry. That is one o f the beauties of using the flared fittngs. They can be re-uesed without an y problems. Soft aluminum seals can also be bought from Aircraft Spruce. I have never needed to use them so I can't say how good they are. Good luck on your re-building project. - Dave Bowerman RV-7 tail kit only. --- On Sun, 7/10/11, Matt Dralle wrote: From: Matt Dralle Subject: RV7-List: Reusing 3/8" Flares...
