I've looked a lot of RVs but suddenly can't find a picture about the slider
rail cap to refresh my memory. Are people painting the C804 canopy slide cap
or leaving it bare because of the plastic that has to slide over it?

I agree!!! I built a RV-6A that took me almost 6 years (slow build kit) and since
I finished it in July 2001 my wife has been in it once!!!
She had almost 175.HRS with me in the Piper Warrior I had prior to the RV.

Michael,
I agree with the others, and add two points.
1. Being close, shoulder-to-shoulder with your wife is nice......but it's a
pain in the rear when it's a 200 lb guy with bad breath! I've been a
passenger in both, and take the back seat of the -8 over the SBS arrangement
ANY DAY!
2. You're so far along on your -8, don't sell it (at a loss of labor) to
start the -7!!!!! Finish it, fly it, wait to see if she likes / dislikes,
then change. They're worth more finished. Your wife's comfort when
comparing the two is a minor detail. I knew a guy that got rid of his -4
and bought a -6 because his wife didn't like riding in the back. She never
rode in the -6. Point there is that if your wife does like to fly, she'll
enjoy either plane. Satisfy yourself!!!!
