After wiring it I'm amazed it worked at all. The kind of problem you report is not uncommon with an incorrectly wired connector or one with a solder bridge. Solder bridges are very easy to get when wiring those devilish little pins. My experience with Flitecom intercom in my RV-8 was a very happy one.
