I must have a 'really' old 6pp because mine makes no mention of leaving open spots for the fairing. Pity, as Drawing 43 clearly shows where I need to mount the fairing. No matter, as (sneak peak) the fairing will attach (dwg 43) with 509-8r8 screws into k1000-08 nutplates mounted to those locations. You will fit the fairing to your assembled tail section and drill through the fairing (it is somewhat translucent) through the VS or HS, deburr, and then mount the nutplates. This is most easily accomplished by having NOT done anything prior. So... I would recommend you do nothing to those spots until instructed to do so in the plans which I believe is the finish kit. Where the VS Skin meets the 2 bottom Ribs (VS-705 and VS-704), it says - "Leave open for empennage fairing attach ....." Are these 6 places (each side of VS Skin) dimpled for nutplates or what ???? Otherwords what should I do to these 6 places while building the VS, if anything ??? Do not have the "newer instructions" that explain what goes on at these places.
