You could take the spring off the Gov. if you have that kind, but just remember
that if your push pull cable breaks that the prop might be stuck in the last
position. I have taken the spring off of all mine, that allows me to run less
tension on the levers making for smoother operation. Remember if the push-pull
where to fail it would be like landing a fix pitch.

I put a very light spring between the govenor [ MT ] and the bracket
mount to counteract the strong tension. Works great!

Subject: RV8-List: Prop lever creep
Has anyone had the prop lever (middle of the 3 levers) creep and if
you lock it down all the time its very annoying since that also locks
down the throttle (and mixture). Applying just enough locking doesn't
work since to stop the creep also immobilizes the other two....any
ideas?
Thanks

Hello,
Does one balance each Horizontal Stabilizer section separately (trim the
lead weights) or as a completed unit connected to the push rods and control
column.
Thanks,

I did each separately as it was just as easy as doing it connected.
Recommend leaving enough weight on to have the elevator trailing edge up.
You will need this to compensate for paint (not an insignificant weight
change as it is all aft of the hinge point). I ended up adding weight back
after painting - and then fixing the paint job where I cut into the elevator
fairing.
