I recently completed my baggage door using Vans instructions. Took numerous
iterations but I am quite pleased how it turned out. I went to the local l
ocksmith and purchased a reasonably priced lock - one where the key cannot
be removed unless the thing is locked. Although not 100% fullproof - I gue
ss you can miss a key sticking up from the baggage door - but it is an indi
cator of an incomplete preflight!
I found the rod extension to lock the door provided the force needed to mak
e the door set flush.
