So it's "Red Dawg" now.
I agree about the Bose. I've been flying for over a year with the Bose X
(I like it better than the A20) in the 737 - so it gets a lot of use. The
ear pads wore out after about 8 months. They also tend to flatten which
blocks your ear canal and cuts down sound. The volume controls are exposed
and very easy to accidentally adjust to low setting. They need a notch to
"latch" in the full volume position. The headband is way too thick and
easily hits things above your head. It doesn't even work with 3 of our jets -
don't know what the problem is there - so I have to scramble for my backup
Telex.
Overall, I have not been happy with my $1K Bose.
I will buy a Sennheiser next.

Subject: | Bucking Bar Recommendation... |
Dear Listers,
After nearly 23 years of building metal airplanes on and off, I finally came across
a really nice bucking bar. The part number details are below and I've attached
a picture of it with the optional 6.5" Dolly Shank attached (recommended).
The handle has a vibration absorbing mechanism inside and it makes riveting almost
a pleasure. It really works good. I was truly amazed at how much more comfortable
it is riveting using the tool.
If you've got even a modest amount of riveting left to do on your project, surf
over to the US Tool web site and order up one. You won't be sorry!
I don't get any kick back (pun intended) from US Tool; I'm just a very stratified
customer.

Hi folks,
I fly 747-400's and also use Bose X's. My company aircraft has Sennheiser
s as part of standard equipment. I also own a pair of Sennheisers I bought m
yself. My flight legs are often 10-14 hours in length. My advice is find a
headset that first and foremost, fits YOUR head comfortably. Of equal impo
rtance is the audio quality provided by your headset. I like the Bose X bet
ter than my company Sennheiser because it is more comfortable and I can unde
rstand foreign controllers more easily because of the superior clarity the B
ose provides. Your mileage may vary, so I would recommend trying on a lot o
f different top quality headsets from different companies and seeing what fi
ts your head comfortably (with great audio a must). Also, sound attenuation
is critical for audio clarity and hearing preservation. My flight surgeon t
old me hearing loss is the number one reason pilots lose their medicals. So
yes, headsets can be expensive but they are cheap compared to hearing aids.
Fly safely,
Bob S.

RV-8 Buds, flew my 8a this afternoon and finally screwed up the courage to
turn on the AP. Took a mil second for the plane to snap roll to the right.
Stopped her about vertical and flipped the switch. Must have wired the bank
servo backward. Anybody know the easiest fix? I have a MGL EFIS Odyssey wi
th Trio AP servos. Shocking moment. Thanks, Bill of Georgia N288WP, 15.1 H
