    Subject: Gear Tower Covers
I=99ve cut out each gear tower lower web in my QB fuselage and plan to install 0.063 thick covers, but a bit different from what I have seen. I am curious as to whether anyone else has done this and/or if I=99m missing something which would make this a bad idea. My covers will have cutouts matching the lower half of the middle hole and upper half of the lower hole. Essentially a very exaggerated =9CH=9D. The overall dimensions are 4.13=9Dx7=9D. Each plate will install with 16 #8 machine screws, probably AN525=99s, and AN365 nuts. The primary advantage I see is that this eliminates all the nutplates required with full covers. Also, the holes will be preserved for inspection purposes and in the unlikely event that any maintenance or servicing at all can be done through them. All feedback greatly appreciated.
