Now that I am seriously looking at what will be required to install the Matco parking brake unit and route an actuator cable, I am wondering if it is worth the time and effort. Pros and cons? Stan Loer rv8 very slow QB

I agree with Larry. Save the weight and hassle. Add another NACA air vent on the right side of the fuselage instead. You will appreciate and use that *way more*. - Matt Dralle RV-8 #82880 N998RV "Ruby Vixen" http://www.mattsrv8.com - Matt's Complete RV-8 Construction Log http://www.mattsrv8.com/Mishap - Landing Mishap Rebuild Log http://www.youtube.com/MattsRV8 - Matt's RV-8 HDTV YouTube Channel Status: 172+ Hours TTSN - Rebuilding Fuselage After Landing Mishap... Maybe once in 4 years flying I thought it would be nice. You can add it any t ime so I suggest you defer until it flies (DTIF) if you are still building. Recommend it. You may not need to use it much, but when you need it you really need it. No need for a actuator cable. Just mount it on the bulkhead between the panel and firewall at the bottom and in the center. Very easy to plumb and you just need to reach under the panel to actuate the lever. Simple. Stan After four years and 410 hours on my RV-7A I can think of maybe two or three instances when it would have been nice to have have a parking brake - I'd say forget it - I carry a set of small / lightweight aluminum chocks - they weren't much work - cost only a few pennies - hardly weigh a thing - and work every time - Dan Bergeron RV-7A - N307TB 410 hours since first flight on Aug 4, 2009 On Sat, Jun 15, 2013 at 5:54 PM, Carl Froehlich <carl.froehlich@verizon.net>wrote: > Recommend it.
