Al,I have the same frustrations.=C2- And I use the same techniques.I drai
n the tanks and replace the sump valves every three years.StanDaytona Beach
Hi All, Well Im ticked off, went to hanger today to do a breakfast flight,
left
main fuel drain dripped fuel, stained the gear leg fairing (white epoxy pai
nt).
Had this happen once before..I seldom ever drain the sumps in my RV8A becau
se in
almost seven years I have never had any water or sediment.
The last time I did it I thought, "well its been years might as well check
, drained
both, no water no debriscame back a week later, both o rings in both petcoc
ks
bad, both gear leg fairings, both wheel pants
stained so bad I had to repaint them all. (I found nothing to remove the st
ain,
100LL worked the best)=C2- Now I have to do it again, (at least its only
one side)
but Im pissed.
Im seriously thinking of removing the petcocks and insert plugs then just d
rain
at condition inspection.
I wish there were better quality drains or petcocks to avoid this problem.
=C2- In
over 50 years in Aviation been so rare, now twice on my own airplane, petco
cks
probably made in China.
So frustrating
Wonder if anyone has seen a cap or plug that covers the petcock so if it do
es leak
slightly it wont stain the paint.
