I am waiting on an answer from Van's but thought I would check here. In putting
together the rudder skeleton and matching the skins, the bottom rib pre-punched
holes do not line up with the skin, they are off by about 1/4 inch. The rest
of the holes match perfectly along the spar and top rib. There is really
nowhere to make a mistake in the bottom skeleton assembly, i:e: putting together
the rudder horn/shim/spar/rib together. I had another builder look it over
also, and we are both convinced there must be an error in the way the holes were
punched in the flanges of the rib. Sorry to go on so long, and ideas or similar
experiences while I await Van's answer? Thanks, Glenn in AZ -9A Emp.

I had a problem with the holes lining up between the spar and the rudder
horn. The horn is made on a different machine so the alignment isn't as
perfect as the rest of the kit.

I didn't have any problems with the skin and the spar holes lining up
though. Do you have some pictures?

I just received replacement closed end rivets from Van's (theoretically
AD41H and AD42H) contained in wing kit bags 810 and 821 respectively.
They were replacements for the rivets I received with my wing kit last
fall. The two previous bags both had the same rivets in them (AD41H
      length I believe).

Well, the replacement bags had the same problem. So Van's has a problem
with at least some of the 810 and 821 bags (maybe all).

You should all check the contents of these two bags carefully to make
sure that they are correct, hopefully before you get the fuel tank all
gooped up with pro-seal like I did. :-(

From what I can determine (thanks to Curt Hoffman) the rivet lengths are:
41H- .25" from under the head to the end of the rivet
42H- .30" from under the head to the end of the rivet.

I don't have any pictures, but these holes are not even close, like I said,
at least 1/4 inch off, yet everything else lines up perfectly.

I am building an RV-7 and have the same problem. I just finished inventory
and found the bags contain the same rivets. It appears the "bins" over at
the factory have been loaded with the same rivets. I will be calling Van's
tomorrow with my list of MIA and "Battle" damaged wing parts.

      Glenn,
I had a HS rib that was stamped wrong. It seems to have been placed in the
die 180 degrees off, all of the holes ended up on top of the flutes. The
remaining ribs were correct. Van's was very good and sent me a new rib right
away. Everyone is away at Sun N Fun right now. It is possible that the rib
      was stamped wrong.
