--> RV9-List message posted by: Matthew Brandes <mbrandes@irr.com> Didn't forget the attach strips. They are already riveted on to the rudder. I'm going to put an email into Van's and see if by chance I got the wrong rudder bottom. (I re-read the message I posted.. and it may have been a bit unclear. The rudder fairing is too short by 1/2". I'll find out from Van's. If anyone still has there rudder fairing un-attached, couldn't measure it and let me know how long it is.) --> RV9-List message posted by: "Glenn Brasch" <gbrasch@earthlink.net> Someone a whole lot smarted than me (doesn't take much) suggested RTV instead of ProSeal in the rudder trailing edge. Lot easier to clean up, just as good, cheaper, etc. Any comments or suggestions? Glenn in Arizona -9A emp. do not archive

--> RV9-List message posted by: "Dave Nicholson" <dnick2@insightbb.com> I don't think RTV has the same quality of adhesion or durability as ProSeal. I recommend getting a can of ProSeal, using what you need for the control surfaces, and keep the can in the refrigerator until you get to the Fuel Tanks. (I've had my original can for over a year now.) Dave 90347 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Glenn Brasch" <gbrasch@earthlink.net> <RV-9A@yahoogroups.com> Subject: RV9-List: RTV Vs. --> RV9-List message posted by: "Marcel" <mbourgon@elp.rr.com> We are working on a 9A and a 7A in our shop. I can not believe that you guys are using proseal on the trailing edges. This is one messy product. We set our selves up with a large back bucking plate and plywood to keep piece good and level. We set a good straight 2" x 4" on top of surface and set two bags of gun shot to hold everything nice and straight. We did our back riveting with a small mushroom head on our rivetting tool. Just be careful and steady and it came out great. Marcel in El Paso ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Nicholson" <dnick2@insightbb.com> Subject: Re: RV9-List: RTV Vs. --> RV9-List message posted by: "Gary" <rv9er@3rivers.net> I agree. These are not that hard to do. Clean and simple is better. Remember proseal is not light, and you need to balance the control surfaces with lead, also not light. I see no reason to smear this stuff in there. Won't make it fly better. --> RV9-List message posted by: Ken Moak <ken_moak@yahoo.com> I used the System Three T88 structural epoxy clecoed it to the elevator spar (same hole pattern) wiped the excess off with vinegar and let it set for a couple of days. Worked fine. ken Wings --- Glenn Brasch <gbrasch@earthlink.net> wrote: > --> RV9-List message posted by: "Glenn Brasch" > <gbrasch@earthlink.net> > > Someone a whole lot smarted than me (doesn't take > much) suggested RTV instead of ProSeal in the rudder > trailing edge.
