Konrad: I will not decide on this question until after a couple of winter
flights. You may wish to call ACS for an answer by them - or the fabricator
(877-477-7823). Let us know if you find the answer (do engine models
matter???).
The product is shown on page 276 of the current ACS catalogue (bottom right
hand corner). It is described well. It definitely has to fit well. If you
have not installed your exhaust yet, believe me, there will be absolutely
NO "wiggle room" in the exhaust.
Good luck. do not archive

Werner, by saying "incorrect" are you saying I should have a carb heat muff
in the FWF kit? Steve.

Some time ago there was a discussion about the parts provided in the FWF
kit
for carb heat. It ended (I think) with the conclusion that VANS do not
provide parts to take air off the exhaust but just take air out of the
lower
cowl. Yet they sell a heat muff!
If this is correct, my question is what is the concensus on the efficacy
of
this? I would have thought the air barely warm enough for this purpose?

Steve: I ordered 4 feet of the stuff. It was 'enough'.
PS Ernest, I didnt understand " Bear in mind that within two or three inches
of the carb heat system is the degree temp."

Dear Steve,
What I am saying is that they do not "... just take air out of the lower cowl ...",
as that would be an insufficient source for carbheat.
The various versions of the FWF-Kit in my older 2002-2003 Accessories Catalog do
not differentiate between carbureted & fuel injected engines, but only between
Size & Prop used (. . . their more up to date website now differentiates between
F.I. & Carbs on the FWF-Kits)
Do you have the part *EA CARB HEAT MUFF* on your specific inventory list for the
FWF Kit ?
Why not call Van's to make sure you didn't pay for something that you didn't get.
Good Luck,
Konrad
SNIP . . . but just take air out of the lower cowl. Yet they sell a heat muff!

Someone posted some pictures of a heat muff that stradles both crossover
pipes recently. I looked like a good idea to me and easy to make. I made a quick
sketch in my brain. Maybe whoever posted the pictures could do so again.
I don't think you could get enough heat just pulling free air from inside the
cowl.
