hi doug: personally, I think this may be misguided. For $2,000, you can get
a dynon efis system, which can be a backup in virtually every possible way.
It functions more accurately, IMHO, than the ordinary aircraft systems. (I
have one, and love it.) And this will also make fail-detection far faster.

I would just put in the 6 ordinary instruments, plus one dynon.

      regards,

      Right on Ivo,
I seen the dynon at arlington and thought "that's the way to go" if I go
all electric and want a gyro horizon, that is right at about a $1000 anyway!
Stick the D10 in the that top middle spot and you've got all you need.

You still need a static air source... regardless of how much technology you
      use.
