I flew with the wintip comm for exactly 5 hours before replacing it with a belly mounted whip. Here's my experience: The Nav antenna works wonderfully, I use mine for VOR, LOC & GS, all work fine. The comm worked when within decent range of an airport, but just wasn't acceptable to me or others listening. The belly mounted whip is wonderfull. The range is outstanding, and my communication is crystal clear. I'm not the first one to ditch the BA wingtip Antenna, and they will work fine in some environments, but flying in and around a lot of busy airspace, clear and strong comm was necessary for me. Just my 2 cents! Cheers, Stein Bruch RV6's, Minneapolis.
