fuel cap flange fit

      Hi everyone,
       I'm at the step where I need to drill the fuel cap flange to the tank skin,
      and it really doesn't match the contour of the skin/ribs well at all.
      I've rotated it and found the existing bend in the cap but it is not enough.
      Seems like it will look like a mess once they are riveted together.
      Pictures on the web look like a good fit...can anyone straighten me out here?

      You'll need to carefully shape the flange a bit to conform to the curve.  I
      think I used hand seamers.  The material is pretty soft.
