I am puzzling through the process of wiring the intercom in my RV 9. I am using
the intercom wiring harness from Vans and haven't found a reference in the instruction
or on drawing op23 for wires rz5 and rz6.

Does anyone out there have a suggestion for me. Support at Vans is also researching
      this.

Easy way out is to call John Stark and get an approach Hub with the pre
wired cables, it becomes a plug and play devise.

I'm not so sure it's worth spending $500.00 with the approach system to get
a simple intercom wired up, but the approach system stuff is nice if you're
doing a huge IFR panel. The Van's harness for the intercom is fine but not
truly a "plug n play" installation.

The REAL easy way is to have us build you a harness for less money and
everything is connected, including jacks, etc.. You just have to plug in
the power ground wires, and run the PTT wires to the stick (which you'll
have to do with any harness you buy). Our complete harness is less than
Van's price for an inferior harness, too.

      Cheers,
      Stein Bruch

Thanks to both you and Stein for the response. I well understand now. I'm
flying a Velocity which has 'both' feed from the mid-wings, however, with a
sump below the wings, it would likely behave much like a high-wing craft.
There are still issues of flow balance between the tanks. Sometimes the
imbalance will be as much as 5-10 gallons on 40 gallon tanks. Leaking
o-rings on the gas cap seems to be the biggest offender, though other, more
subtle, factors must also be at play. But thanks again for the
      education--which was obvious when explained.

Take two straws and put them in your mouth. Place one of the straws in a can
      of pop and suck.

How much pop did you get?

I'll bet none because air is easier to suck than pop. Close off the straw
that isn't in the pop and voila, you can suck the pop.

If you use a both tank position, then when one tank empties, no matter how
much gas is in the other tank, you will suck air and the engine will quit.
