Albert, it sounds like our numbers are consistent. My 1/4" gap was for 
full fuel, pilot only and 60% power at 5000' on a stock O320. The gap 
should be greater at higher power. It sounds like a thinner shim on the 
front of the HS would make for better aerodynamics.
