I also found a little dry lubricant on the nylon slide helps as well. Best to not shut canopy all the way - keep aircraft in a hanger. -- Mike Duiven - N711ED emduiven@chaffee,net CollegiatePeaksTrailRun.org Webmaster RotaryBuenaVistaCO.org Webmaster PrairiePoet.org Webmaster CountryClubofGreenValley.org Webmaster (719) 221-1947 (719) 395-8349 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 11:05:56 AM PST US From: "jofrap1@juno.com" Subject: Re: RV9-List: Stiff slider on RV9 Hi What I did was run a small cable from the slide on the canopy rail to th e canopy handle as you unlatch the canopy the handle pulls the cable and lifts the rear of the canopy always works without any fuss. If interes ted I can take some foto's next time I am at the airport. Joe ---------- Original Message ---------- From: "Richard E. Tasker" Subject: RV9-List: Stiff slider on RV9 net> I am having difficulty with the canopy on my 9A. What happens is that it is essentially impossible to start it sliding from the closed position. I thought it was the rear pin blocks that were binding, but it does the same thing with them completely removed. If I am inside, I can get it started by slightly pushing up on the rear. From the outside, the only way is to pull up on the rear. Since the can opy rear skirts are not yet installed that is now possible, but when they are installed it will be impossible. Once I get it to move about 1/2 - 1 inch, then it moves back easily. I have checked everything I can think of and everything seems to be spot on, but I am obviously missing something. Has anyone run into this problem? Does anyone have suggestions as to wha t I should look for? Dick Tasker -- Please Note: No trees were destroyed in the sending of this message.
