Does anyone know of a good supplier in Canada for the tools necessary to
build an RV? I was hoping that I could find one that offers an "RV kit"
like the one Avery offers.
Thanks
Bert

I could never find anyone in Canada that has as good a selection as Avery,
Cleveland or Brown. Anything I did find in Canada the price was no better.

I concurr with Tim...suppliers of aerospace tools in Canada are hard to
find. However, I did buy some Chicago Pneumatic tools (angle drill, nut
runner) at the House of Tools here in Calgary, and the guy that I spoke
with (who was building a KR-2!) said that they were able to order most
CP tools these days. Maybe this helps a little...regards...

Thanks, guys. I kind of thought that would be the answer :-(
We have a House of Tools here in Edmonton, but I didn't find much on
their web site. I think I will put together a list of what I need and
go visit them.

For all the non-aviation specific stuff (which is just about everything except
the rivet gun, clecos, and related riveting stuff) you'll often save money by
buying in Canada. House of Tools (already mentioned) is a good source. I got
my Starrett auto center punch there for quite a bit less than Avery's price for
the same tool. I recommend a general tool supply place for everything that's
not aviation-specific.
For aviation-specific stuff I sometimes get reasonably good deals (and save
time and shipping costs) by buying from Lindair, which is in Vancouver. They
have (or can get) any AN hardware, and stock basic sheet metal tools such as
rivet sets and bucking bars. In Toronto, I think Leavens is still the place to
go. Other major centers probably have similar places. But if I'm buying more
than just one or two items I generally order from Avery or Cleveland. They're
good companies to deal with, and you may even save money.

Thanks fir the pointers, Tedd. I will keep both Lindair and Leavens in
mind when I am buying tools.

I would be remiss if I did not put in a plug for Goulet Aircraft Supply
(with offices in Winnipeg and Edmonton) as they have been supplying my
small, odd & ends, "homebuilder orders" for 15 years now. Good product line
and reasonable prices - plus I can shop in person here in CYWG.. 8-)
Their main business is supplying parts for certified aircraft but they do AN
hardware, the Stits covering materials line, and handle some basic aircraft
tools as well. Have a look at their website at
http://www.gouletaircraft.com/ for more.
I know they ship out of town but I have to admit that I have not used that
side of their service.

No, Bert, we tried and had to buy the bullet and order from Avery. Very
good tools though and very necessary.

Further to my earlier message on this subject, I checked the Goulet web site
and they have a 19 page downloadable tool catalog. Includes, rivet guns,
bucking bars, bucking bar sets, specialized drills and lots more. Worth a
look.
