Myself like others, watch RV9, RV main sites, as well as RV9A@yahoogroups.com as that is where the action is. I guess not enough completed RVs in Canada yet. I've just finished setting up my garage to start my RV 7A empenage, my wings are to be here in March. I have completed the empenage on my 8, the wing kit is on a truck and I have been collecting firewall forward parts. Im curious what sort of issues you have run into in getting the kits across the boarder. There was not a lot of traffic and I do get a lot of mail daily from The RV-list and the Matronics list. Some if not all RVCanada mail seems to show up on the RV- list. I have re-enlisted to the RVCanada-list just now. If the number of emails increases I'll soon see if I have missed many emails. I did not have any troubles with the empennage, shipping was about $70, FedEx charged me another $45 to cover brokerage and I paid GST on the total. I expect the wing kit will be considerably more... I don't see any problems with building in Canada, the MDRA inspections are too expensive but that's aviation. -- Ian -----Original Message----- From: owner-rvcanada-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rvcanada-list-server@matronics.com]On Behalf Of Kevin Williams Subject: RE: RVCanada-List: usage --> RVCanada-List message posted by: "Kevin Williams" Great to hear there is at least one RV8 builder up here in Canada. Kevin: There are 18 RV-8/8A builders from Canada registered on the Western Canada Wing membership list, three with completed airplanes. Those are all from western Canada and the north, except for two from Ontario. Nobody close to you, though! I live very close to the border, so I have my kits delivered to a freight forwarding service on the other side, pick them up, and take them across myself. That's easy, but obviously not a good option for you where you are! Randy: If you search under "Van's" on the TC database you'll get 192 hits (as of today). Per capita, that's probably a bit less than in the U.S., but not a lot. Tedd
