    Subject: F684 gusset, RV-6
--> RVCanada-List message posted by: Jim Oke <wjoke@shaw.ca> Hi Pat; Situation with the F-684 is that it is attached to the outboard side of the vertical angle on the firewall and then falls inside of the wd-603 engine mount weldment which is sandwiched between the F-684 and the 3/4 x 3/4 x .125 alum angle that runs from the firewall to the F-604. The forward 4" or so of the horizontal flange of this angle is removed to allow this to happen. In other words, the F-684 does not reach as far as the large 1 x 1 1/4 x .125 angle. The bottom edge of the F-684 overlaps the inside of the wd-603 by about 3/4" to pick up the 5 AN426AD-4-8 rivets that go through the fuselage skin, the 3/4x3/4x.125 andle, the wd-603, and the F-684 in that order. The bend line in the F-684 should roughly match the top (bottom in jig) of the 3/4" diagonal angle. As usual a few pictures should help so see attached. Cheers, Jim -----Original Message----- From: owner-rvcanada-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rvcanada-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of pat morency Subject: RVCanada-List: F684 gusset, RV-6 --> RVCanada-List message posted by: pat morency <acwrench@yahoo.ca> To All, Head scratching time!!! Trying to mount the F684 gusset on the lower longeron (large one). If fitted from the outboard side in between the skin and longeron the WD603 engine mount interferes with the gusset. Is the F684 gusset bent or cut in any way b/4 mounting? DWG#31 detail "E" appears to show the gusset on the outside going low enough to "take in" the cross brace and the engine mount WD603. Any suggestions appreciated!! Regards, Patrick in Calgary
