I don't see many posts on this Matronics list, but thought I'd ask anyway in case
others also receive the digest. I'm ordering an RV-10 empennage in the coming
weeks to Ontario and was looking to see who other builders have used as a shipping
company, and an approximate cost to expect? Thanks.

Hi Mike,
Great news! It is a big but very worth while challenge to build an RV. I have an
RV7A in Sask. and I just broke 200 hours today. Winnipeg to Tisdale with a 35
Knot headwind. My RV was 9 years in the making and I brought in a lot of items
from around the USA and from Vans. I would highly recommend using the US Postal
Service at every opportunity. I have even insisted suppliers us USPS. The
problem with the courier and freight companies is they want all the extras. handling,
brokerage, GST, duty and unknown additional charges. I never had any
additional charges with USPS. The packages just came to the local Post Office
and I picked them up.
One other thing I have done is have bigger items delivered to a warehouse just
on the other side of the border. Drive across, pick them up, throw the bills down
at Canadian Customs and whatever they want give them a credit card and you
are on your way. This worked well when I was in Winnipeg. It may not be too convenient
from Owen Sound.
Good luck. The Canadian RV forum is rather quiet but occasionally someone has a
good post.
Regards
David Lamb
