Leggs,
As an Airline pilot, I won't know my schedule until the first week of
September for the October bid month. I'll try and get it off but I won't know
until then. I will be going to Las Cruces this year but plan to be back by the
20th. How many people would attend this? Of course another problem would be
the weather. If all the Ducks fall in a row, I would love to do it.

Zack:
If you don't mind keeping me posted on your schedule ... we can try to plan
accordingly. We have almost 100 memebers in SERV now ... sure not everyone
will attend but we are very interested in formation flying. I think you will
find a very enthusiastic audience.
I am sure we can room at someone's house for you to stay if you want to come
down a day early or stay a day longer !!

I am concerned about the amount of participation we are getting on our
monthly fly ins / get togethers. It seems we are getting the same 4 or 5 RVs flying
in ....
We have almost 100 members in SERV now. It is very dissappointing when
someone like Wayne8 (last month) and Dean Meylor (yesterday) go to all the trouble
of planning and buying lunch for the group ..... then only a few show up.
There was very little response on the SERV list ... very little interest in
coming ...
I hate to ask someone to host an outing if no one is going to
participate????????
We are getting a great group of core guys in SERV that are making an effort
to attend the events and make the SERV idea work. I really hate to see
everyone miss out on fun flying with a bunch of good people. Yesterday at Dean's
we
had:
Len Leggette - RV-8A
Wayne Williams - RV-8
Bill "Stormy" Boyd - RV-6A
Mike Barbee - RV-6
Radomir and Ty drove in from Charlotte
Larry and Pam drove in from Advance
Dean and Jeanene hosted
Mike Barbee is planning an event for the end of October. That is enough
advance notice for us all to mark our calendars accordingly ... let's really try
to support Mike in his efforts. Looks like the next SERV event will be the
Virginia State flyin in September. It is on the calendar on the SERV site.
Any ideas on increasing participation would be welcome !!! How about a
flight down to Calabash for lunch soon ... wives would like that ?????

you haven't had your fill of tents and sleeping bags at OSH ;-)
I'm thinking about it. You didn't snore at OSH, so you can be my neighbor again.
Question is, could I interest anyone in sharing my tent? Andrew has probably
had enough for awhile (he liked your arrangement of having one tent each for
you and Chris). Maybe Miriam's sense of adventure will get the best of her...

I might be able to host one. I am at Miller Airpark, NC 30 2200' very
smooth grass strip. I have my own hanger with restroom and plenty of space
to park. Perhaps late Sept or Oct.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
The best thing to do is to keep having fun and sharing it with the group
via emails and pictures. This will entice others to join in if able.
Another thing to keep in mind is the number of RV's flying in our group vs
those still under construction or still dreaming. Since RVBOGTT became
SERV, have we had a "shop visit"? I think all the events have been fly
outs. Which have been fantastic, but I remember the old days when shop
visits were fun and helpful too. We should remind people who are still
building that they are welcome and qualified to host a get-together too.

I really appreciate you stepping forward ... hosting can be as much or as
little as you want it to be. Just having a place to fly into is the goal. You
can ask the group to bring something or simply have a coke !!!
Thanks !!

This is very true guys .... if you are still building ... please consider
inviting us over to see the project ... that is how we got started years ago.
You will be surprised how many will come and you can get lots of advice too !!!

Shop visit - great idea! Let's go visit Bob the Engine Builder at his shop and
see if we can help him tear down and fix Larry's new engine. Call it "friendly
persuasion" to help speed the process along ;-)

Hello, all,
Dennis and I are in the middle of our move from 08A, Wetumpka, AL to
Greenville, NC, and found this list just this week. I haven't had a chance
to introduce us yet (we are literally home for today only while we repack
from a weekend funeral and then head out on the drive tomorrow). Dennis will
be the new Professor of Aerospace Studies at the AFROTC detachment at East
Carolina University starting next week. We sold our house here, but have
nowhere to live there yet.
We are having enormous difficulty finding a place to hangar our two-year-old
RV-6A, and it's really causing Dennis to begin to regret the move. I think
the only nights that plane has spent outdoors is at fly-ins. GRIN! Dennis
will be flying to Hillsborough tomorrow (where my Jeep broke down on the
first trip up to Greenville house-hunting) to retrieve the Jeep, and then
we'll be driving/flying/ferrying two cars and a plane somehow from
Hillsborough to *SOME PLACE* around Greenville to store the plane. If he
can't find hangar space, or if we can't find a house with a runway (grin),
then I think he'll seriously contemplate selling the RV-6A...which would
just break his heart (and mine).
We are also building a RV-10 (empecone complete, wings on hold at Van's
until we get resettled), so needless to say we need both a workshop and a
hangar.
If you have any tips on a hangar, please call us at home today 334-285-1576
or on the cell phone any time this week 334-315-1713. I'll be driving and
he's flying this time, but after we get relocated we are always VERY active
in the local flying community and cannot wait to get busy flying out to
socials, or hosting get-togethers ourselves. (c:
Thanks for any help you can offer,

Jerome Tuttle took my RV4 up for its first flight August 1. He flew it
another 1 1/2 hours today. My insurance company says I have to get 5
hrs dual in a RV before I can fly it myself.
