We're building a -6A here in Louisville, Ga in my hangar and I'd love a -6A checkout. I'm also CFI with around 12,000 tailwheel time in Cessna Agwagons and mainly Air Tractors. I had a Cassutt racer back in the '70s and also have Pitts and Stearman/T-6 time. My airport is 2J3 with a new 5000' runway. Let me know when you get close to flying. With your experience you can teach me. I have just sold my Pa-20 and fly a Pawnee at our soaring club. I have a couple of months left on contract (flying a Citation for a charter company) after that I will have lots of time. Anyone want it? It's at 8A7. It easily fit's in the back of a pickup truck. I'm not sure it's even a legal 50-mile cross-country. Nice lunch spot. I see in my complementary copy of the Southern Aviator magazine (oh, the perks of airport ownership ;-) that there are events scheduled at Asheboro, NC Sept. 11-12 (12th Annual AeroFest Fly-In and Pig-Pickin' at 25NC) and an airshow at Winston-Salem that same weekend. Also catching my eye was the week following the EAA Satete event in Petersburg, VA, there is a "2004 Wings and Wheels Car and Air event" at Hummel Field, which would make a nice stepping stone to an overnight fly-out to Tangier Island, the jewel of the Chesapeake Bay... want to think about this as a SERV/MARV event possibility? My wife and I have done the Tangier trip a couple years ago, but went so late in the season (November) that all the seafood restaurants were closed. Nice B&B's there, and fabulous seafood in season. Island is so small you can walk the whole length of it is a couple hours. What do you think? I've talked myself into it already. Flying overwater is more fun and safe in a gaggle. At 6500 MSL I think an RV could glide to land from anywhere in the crossing, but I carry Mae Wests anyway! I'll keep reading and see if I turn up any more events to help round out the calendar. -Stormy ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 04:03:40 PM PST US Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: SERV Fly In Participation From: lee.logan@gulfstream.com 07:03:22 PM --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: lee.logan@gulfstream.com I'm certainly guilty of being a member but not participating enough. I do have an excuse though, my friends and I have been building a hangar all summer. We're pretty much finished now and I'm hoping to participate in more fly-ins the remainder of the year. If I can join up with someone for the flight over to SERFI in Oct, I would like to. I'm definitely planning to make that one. Regards, Lee...
