Ron,
Let me know what you find. He may be wrong but who knows. The guy is
VERY knowledgeable but there is a chance he could be wrong. For a
"hobby" he buys airplane plans and analysis them for week points in the
structure then compares his findings to the NTSB records so see if they
match up. The funny part is, he isn't a geek, just a down to earth type
of guy who LOVES airplanes, all airplanes. He once commented to me that
Van was the 2nd best aircraft designer, the first being Taylor. Back
when I was looking to buy my '41 T-Craft I found out that there has
never been an AD issued on the airframe, only on the engines and switch
gear, etc. That is an envious record for any designer. He made that
comment when I told him I wasn't going to buy another T-Craft but build
an RV-9. His other comments were along the line of, if you are going to
build a safe kit, any of the RV's are the way to go.
Anyway, he is in the process of developing his own EFIS and expect them
to go cheep, if he puts them in production. Knowing him like I do, I
would trust anything he designs.
Take care, time for me to get back in the basement.
Bill
