What about Monday (Labor Day)? When is the first time you can do it excluding this Saturday? {Of course, if Ken and others are available, clearly there is no need to wait for me. I will "join up" the next time around}. There is a chance that we might be visiting a friend in NC on Sunday afternoon so that too might be a possibility. Just throwing possibilities out for now. It may be the case that there are already too many Labor Day plans already in place to make this particular weekend not feasible *but* that should not hinder us from getting things going. How far are you from Columbia? I suggest we do our first gathering here and venture forth from there. We have three different areas where we practice. We can do section take-offs (2-wide) from KCUB. If we wanted wider runways, KCAE is only 6 miles away. Also, we probably can get someone to ride along and get video for debriefing purposes. Sometimes it is easier when watching the "tape" to see what you could really improve on. I think the key is simply for us to GET STARTED as you say. I am sure there will be others that will join in. James p.s. For "newbies" we suggest that riding along on a few of the first flights would be helpful as you can then put "Thuh BooK" and "Thuh Video" in better perspective. In other words, don't count yourself out because you haven't had any practice yet. {SNIP} > > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: len@limalimaaviation.com > > James: > > That sounds great to me .... Sounds like you are about an hour away ... within striking distance. :-) What are you flying? Would love to have you join us. As mentioned in an earlier email, what many of us have found to be VERY helpful is to ride along on a few flights in the beginning to get a better (safer) appreciation of what goes on. And then as you are comfortable, learn with us by doing it. Since you have watched "Thuh Tapes", I assume you have "Thuh Book" and/or "Thuh Presentation/Notes" (done by Mike Stewart). If not, we can help with that. What times work for you? James {SNIP} > > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Paul D. Franzon" > > I am interested too. Have watched the tapes but no practice yet. Let me know when you are going to do it. BTW, do you need a lift? I have one sitting in my basement that isn't being used right now. I finally ordered my fuselage and expect it to arrive by Halloween. I'm still in awe of the progress you have made in a year and a half! Bill R. With the current hurricane "forecast" (see below), along with a variety of commitments, and the fact that there will probably be some game related restrictions at KCUB on Saturday, it **LOOKS** like Sunday afternoon *might* be the best time. So the ** PROPOSED LOCATION/TIME ** is: KCUB (Columbia-Owens Downtown) 2 PM on Sunday Looks like we have ... Len RV8 - ??? - ??? - Winston-Salem ? Mike RV8 - ??? - ??? - Concord ? James RV6 - 160HP - Fixed Pitch Prop - KCUB Ken RV6 - 180HP - CS Prop - KCUB (might have a commitment but is looking into it) Dave RV6 - ??? - ??? - ??? Paul RV4 - 180HP - Fixed Pitch Prop - KRDU/Kennebeck ? "Frogman" RV4 - 160HP - CS Prop - Eagle's Nest >>>> Please respond via email if you are "IN", along with the question marks filled in. Also indicate if you would prefer a different start time. ??? Bill Crothers and "Stormy" ... Are you considering and if so please send info like above. ??? THANKS TO ALL.
