During preflight when the aircraft has set for some time, when I drain fuel
from under the wing I find some brown or blackish flakes. It takes about 6
ounces of draining to clear up the flakes.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
I have a OB 8. Could it be the tanks sealer is dissolving?
Thanks,
Steve Glasgow

Like corn flakes sized flakes? Or specs? Proseal is blakish, but doesn't
break down from fuel. Maybe it's from the fuel truck or inground tank. I'd
monitor to try to establish a trend, if any......

They are very small! A spec for sure!
I even had them in OSH during preflight before I left.
Again congrats on the event and many more to come.

Thanks.
I'm down for now. I had to send the Rose ignition module back. It quite
Sunday shortly after start-up. Anyway, I'm taking the opportunity to tweak
some things and sound proof the firewall. Boy that thing is loud!! Any
tips for me related to sound-proofing? Anyone? Bueller?

Mike and I used Koolmat Heat Barrier from Spruce around page 123.
Used spray glue to hold it in place, no problems so far. Just cut and
paste!
Sorry to hear of the latest problem, better to quit after start than after
takeoff. I promise after you have done your time (40 hours) you will just
fly it and put it to bed. I know you can't wait.
Steve

I ordered this last night:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/dampingpanels.php
Does dampening the firewall give the most gain for the effort? Or do the
sidewalls need to be done too?
I'm thinking of getting some turn-downs for the exhaust pipes too...
