Hi Guys,
I just got a call from an old friend Tim Berry, who was one of the original
members of the Mid-Atlantic RV Wing formation team. Tim is looking to move
to the Hickory, NC area and would like some help identifying airports that
would welcome him and his RV8.
Since Im located in the far east (Elizabeth City) I wont be of much help
to Tim and his quest for a good airport. So I hope the rest of you can
email or call Tim and pass along some information and suggestions as to
where to look and what to look out for.
Tims phone #270 924 3674

Curtis & Tim:
Good to hear from you !!! Didn't know what you were up to these days !!
My partners are from Hickory ... I get up there very often ... only about 1
1/2 hours by car and a short RV flight from Winston-Salem. The Hickory
airport is quite nice ... lots of GA activity .. lost all their airline service.
Don't know the situation about hangers. I don't remember anyone in SERV from
Hickory but you could check the Vans list.
Tim ... welcome to NC ... the majority of the activity so far in SERV is
closer to the Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Raleight area. We look
forward to you joining us.
Please go to _serv@bowenaero.com_ (mailto:serv@bowenaero.com) and sign up
!! Let me know when you get to town and we will keep you informed of the SERV
activities !!

Let me throw my two cents worth in here.... This picnic that Wayne8 is
talking about is put on by the Cape Fear Aero Association, and is one of our
most fun events of the year. It is very informal, just come as you are and
be prepared for good hamburgers and hotdogs. Just leave a little money in
the kitty for next year. We give rides to any kids that want to go up, and
then just go up and play as much as we can stand it. Len, this is a great
excuse to show up as a group formation and show these guys what a real
arrival looks like. You guys come on down. The location is Grays Creek, 2GC,
about six miles due south of Fayetteville airport, FAY. Hope to see
everybody there. If there is a group, we can gather up over Eastover Air
Ranch and go to 2GC from there. What do you guys think?

That's what I've been told to do by my engine guy. My advice would be to
follow whatever your engine dude tells you. If nothing else, when things
break, you can at least be able to say you were following his directions,
and thus, perhaps, get better support making things right.

I changed oil earlier as engine didn't seem to burn much oil. Is 5
hours for the first oil change now the deal for a new engine? It makes
sense, just curious.
