Let me throw my two cents worth in here.... This picnic that Wayne8 is
talking about is put on by the Cape Fear Aero Association, and is one of our
most fun events of the year. It is very informal, just come as you are and
be prepared for good hamburgers and hotdogs. Just leave a little money in
the kitty for next year. We give rides to any kids that want to go up, and
then just go up and play as much as we can stand it. Len, this is a great
excuse to show up as a group formation and show these guys what a real
arrival looks like. You guys come on down. The location is Grays Creek, 2GC,
about six miles due south of Fayetteville airport, FAY. Hope to see
everybody there. If there is a group, we can gather up over Eastover Air
Ranch and go to 2GC from there. What do you guys think?

$25 as mentioned on AirNav is still way too much...

What happens if you refuse to pay? FBO has no authority, IMO, to collect
anything unless I use their services. I could see a fee for over-night
services, but just dropping someone off?! I have plenty of "fees" removed
from each pay check.....

Larry, well, it depends. If the ramp is "their
property" (or leased etc..) they can charge whatever
they want (parking fee, just like the city charges you
via the parking meter). And send you a bill if you
refuse to pay... then comes the collection agency
etc.. I am guessing.. I don't know.. I don't wanna
find out either :)
It's plain wrong, IMHO. on the other hand I could see
where they may be trying to recover the cost of
lease/ownership/maintenance of the FBO itself.. too
much traffic not a lot of sales?
I guess they dont' sell that much gas? :)

Where are apron fees documented? NOTAMS? AFD? I don't see anything on
airnav. No public notice = no collection if I turn around and leave.

Mine is spray glued to the inside of the baggage compartment with the
fiberglass side glued to the back side of the firewall.
It is going to be a pain since you are already together. I did mine before
the top piece was on. I would suggest templates out of thin cardboard cut
to fit, then you can cut holes for the nuts and bolts that go through the
firewall. I used some hardwall tubing sharpened and hammered out the holes
for the nuts and bolts.
You will be suppressed how well it deadens the sound and stops the oil
canning.
