There was about 40 airplanes there including 3 RVs, my 4, Jerome Tuttle's 4, and Dana Breda's 6, not quite as many airplanes as usual. The food was great. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 05:45:06 PM PST US From: "Larry Bowen" Subject: RE: RVSouthEast-List: Pace --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" Anything tricky about landing at Pace? Dana told me about the deer. Anything else? Pretty smooth? I couldn't make it Saturday, but today would have been a good day to go for some "cheap" fuel. Winds right down the runway..... - Larry Bowen, RV-8, 11.5 hrs. It was very a smooth landing on the north end and just a bit bumpy taking off from the south end. I have the standard wheelpants and had no problems. I was there maybe 7-8 years ago and thought I was going to lose the pants on takeoff, but it's great now. Didn't see any deer, but somebody said there were a bunch of turkeys on the runway earlier in the day (and I don't think he meant the pilots... :>)) Dana Larry Bowen wrote: >--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" > >Anything tricky about landing at Pace? Larry Small called me today asking about your place and next weekend. If he has an open seat, I may fill it. - Larry Bowen No problem, Larry. All in all, I had a great weekend. Flew 4 young eagles today in severe clear with light turbulence. Perfect day for aviation. Next weekend, the foliage will be better, the odor around here lessened, and I will be more prepared for full-blown hospitality. I think scheduling it for the late afternoon is a bit weird, though. Maybe we'd attract more folk with a lunchtime start, don't you think?? Days are too short now to design the barbecue as a "supper." Tried out my new wingtip antenna today, and the SWR bandwidth seems unbelievably wide. Up in the air measurements were postponed due to a glitch in the antenna analyzer not wanting to run off its internal batteries. A work-around was soldered up tonight on at the test bench, and I will be checking in flight SWR next time I'm up (with a flight engineer in the right seat.) -Stormy ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 08:15:14 PM PST US From: "Larry Bowen" Subject: RE: RVSouthEast-List: Sat. --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" I agree earlier is better this time of year. - Larry Bowen, RV-8 @ 8A7, 11.5 Hrs. Question?..young eagles.......insurance? we have been looking into our coverage while taking pax up for rides......which we love to do! but see that Experimentals can only get 100,000 coverage per person. I looked at the EAA young eagles program and they offer a 1,000,000. policy if you are a member and have them sign a wavier before going up........ We realize that most people we take up done know the difference between a RV and a Cessna...and are starting to wonder if it is worth the risk..... Any thoughts?
