      Hi James,

Thanks for the invite. However, looks like low ceilings are going to hang
around this AM. I am planning on replacing my "mufflers"
with my latest and greatest design - I need to quite this exhaust
before I lose whats left of my hearing. So I'll just bite the bullet and
      tackle that job today.

But, one of these days I will be down again to see you folks

      Ed

I flew Saturday morning also. Nice and smooth.

I'm going to try to make the RUQ brunch before it ends at 2:00 via the
Decathlon if the winds aren't too great.....

      Well ...

      Weather was not great again.

We waited until it was VFR (forward viz OK, ceilings slow to lift/burn off)
and flew down as a flight of two.

Turns out, Ken and I were the **only** planes to fly in to the Breakfast
Club, VFR. There was ONE other plane that filed and came in from somewhere
      near Atlanta I heard.

Good friendly people. They even gave us breakfast "on the house" (for making
      the trip I guess).

An amazing thing happened today: the kind folks at Hughes Aerospace finally fixed
a software glitch at their DirecWay satellite ISP headquarters, thus letting
me once again log onto AOL from my home. It's been a long 30 days with no email
access except from work. Thanks, Howie! About freakin' time!

That's a lot of time in the saddle, Larry. Especially on a 50 nm leash. Good
going. I hope it is all productive and routine. I managed to log time all three
days this weekend; I'm up over 450 hrs now. Woo-hoo!

I think I need to get the prop balanced; engine feels rougher than I remember it.
Not affected by mixture or carb heat, and EGT's and CHT's are all nominal.
Maybe my elastomeric mounts have bottomed out or something. Also noticed the
runway was really mushy today after last night's rain. I hit a section of grass
on my takeoff roll that felt like flypaper; wasn't sure I was going to be
able to unstick it and pull it off.

Len, you can come visit now; we sold the last of the ten puppies, so the coast
is clear. All we need is a day with no wind ;-)

Yes, this 50 nm circle is very small in an RV. I'm glad the end is in
sight. I still have a couple things to do: loading more weight in the back
to see how that feels, spins, etc. I practiced x-winds and spins in the
Decathlon today. The fantastic visibility makes it all the more fun........

I'm a little concerned about the Barrows Special Edition engine, it's still
burning almost a qt per five hours.

I had my prop balanced at Burlington. I can feel the difference.

Larry if you don't mind me asking - who did you get to balance your prop - I
presume you are talking about dynamic balancing of the prop on the engine.
I have a new 76x88 wooden prop that I will want to get dynamically balanced
      in the near future.

      Thanks

H & H prop at Burlington (BUY). It cost $65 for them to tell me it was
already in balance (0.15 IPS, anything less than 0.2 is considered in
balance). They said we can try to get it even better, but the price goes up
to $250 if they start adding "wieghts". I was already planning on spending
the $250, so I told him to go ahead. So they added the $185 wieght to the
flywheel (looked a lot like a bolt and washer to me.) and got it down to
0.05 IPS. It took less than an hour to do.

Hi Guys, You might like to check with Wendell Hall in Cheraw, SC. He balanced
my RV6 a little over a year ago for $100.00. It took a small bolt and washer
also. Hall Aviation 843 537 6423. Mike Barbee
