--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Linzel Gray Civ 43 CES/CECP" <Gray.Linzel@pope.af.mil> I believe that my carbureted, 150hp 0320, at 8,000 feet, 2,750 rpm, full throttle is putting out about 75%power. I spend little time at that setting. Based on math below about 8.4 gph. N910LL >288 hrs > Hi Len, A couple of things might be conspiring to confuse the issue. If you did numerous takeoff/landings, your burn will be much lower than at cruise because you are in the pattern at reduced power much longer that you are at full power for climb (except for a long climb for high altitude cross country, of course). Also, most people don't run at anywhere near 75% power at cruise. I've flown 160hp engines in 3 different homebuilts + 1 factory plane & they all burned around 9gph when flown at 75%. One of them was injected with a c/s prop & when run at 2400rpm up at 8000', it only burned around 7.3gph (but that ain't 75% power). I've had 1 180hp c/s prop & it burned 10gph. All had much lower burn numbers when there were a lot of t/o & landings on a tank of gas, often as low as 6.5-7.5gph. Check the Lyc Manual to see what 75% power settings really are (most people are shocked). Fill both tanks, take off on one & climb to ~8,000', lean for cruise operation & set cruise power. Start a timer (or look at your watch) & switch tanks. Fly for say, 1/2 hour without changing altitude, throttle or rpm settings & switch back to the other tank. Return to the airport & top off the 'cruise' tank. Now do the math & you know your real 75% cruise fuel burn. Should be around .45*actual hp/6. For a 160, 9gph; for a 180, 10gph. Slightly better if injected and/or electronic ignition.

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: Rique.Gwin@hurlburt.af.mil Servers, I have to write to tell everyone traveling thru So GA about a great fuel stop I found today. Moultrie, GA (MGR)is a great stop! Gas is 40 cents less than any stop around here, full serve, extremely helpful (they'll offer you hot coffee, cake, cookies, popcorn, or even some soup while you wait, all complimentary). If you are passing thru this area this is a must stop!

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "James E. Clark" <james@nextupventures.com> Len, I think that "Speedy" (Danny Kite) is planning to fly some Young Eagles in Greenville on Saturday. I told him I would try to be there (around 9 AM) if possible (good weather and my partner doesn't plan to fly elsewhere). We also have our annual "Fall/Winter Do-Little Fly-in" at Do-Little Field (just south of Columbia) starting around noon on Saturday (burgers, dogs and flying "activities"). Just and additional something to consider if the weather is good.
