Bill, James, Len, Ken & all,
New Years day sounds great. (I'll have to clean out the shop now.) Just let me
know what you would like to do. Information on Gold Hill Airpark is at AirNav
(NC25). Contrary to what is published, we do not have fuel here but Stanley
County Airport is just minutes away. (Stanley County Tower: 126.27) Gold Hill
runway is 3000 feet, but the paved portion is only 30 feet wide, so formation
takeoffs are a no-no, but again, Stanley County is only minutes away. The best
approach to Gold Hill is runway 27. Trees at the west end. No controlled airspace
for miles around except Stanley County class C.
Miss Ruby's Restaurant is just 2 miles away and we have transportation for
10 folks, BUT they will be closed on New Years Day. Any other Saturday or Sunday
they are open. Looks like Stanton's would be a good bet on the First.
