Flown in several times. You can fly right over Cherry Point at 2500 feet
and direct to MRH. There is Restricted Airspace north and south of MRH. You
might want to talk to Cherry Point Approach for there is a lot of military
activity in the area. Also don't forget Iso and Ewn non federal towers and
associated airspace. No problem at all flying in to MRH though.
      Terry

Wayne, I've gone into MRH at least two or three times a month for the last
three years, and it is not as difficult a gauntlet to run as it looks. The
simplest way to go in VFR is to go to New Bern VOR (EWN), then direct. Over
EWN, contact Cherry Point Approach on 199.35, and they will normally just
have you maintain 3000-3500 until past their airport traffic area, then
descend into MRH. Coming out, contact them on 124.10. It's a beautiful area
down there, so don't let a little airspace spoil your fun. When you get
down there, look for "The Sandbar" restaurant. It probably has the best
seafood in the area, especially if you want more than just "fried this or
that". It overlooks the harbor down there, and is a great place to eat. Have
      a good time down there.

      SERV,
Some info for those planning to come to Gold Hill Airpark after the meeting at
Stanton's BBQ... Gold Hill Airpark is listed at NC25, Freq is 122.8. Runway
9/27 is 3000 ft paved surface. Best approach is runway 27. Trees on approach
end of runway 9. My place is the yellow house with silver tin roof at the far
southeast side of the airpark (310 Aviation Lane). Parking in the grass on
both sides of my driveway and in the cul-de-sac at the end of the street or next
to the Mooney in the vacant lot across the street from the house. Questions...
call me at 704-279-4040 (home) or 704-798-5307 (cell).

Bill C... I'm 6' and 180 lbs. If you think I can fit in the back of your RV-4
I would appreciate a ride to Stantons.

      Happy flying,
      Ron Schreck
