      Hi Guys,

If you want me to, I will try and act as a facilitator for the trip to
Leeward Air Ranch on Saturday. So far the weather looks like (although not
perfect for CLT area) it may be doable.

If you are planning on going please send me an e-mail with your phone number
      and what your thoughts are.

I am planning on going with Ron Schreck fairly early and returning the same
day. A meet at KCUB might work. There are lots of choices for routing and
a fuel stop somewhere will be required.

So far Scott Keadle, Ken Harrill, Ron Schreck, and Lee Logan have expressed
      an interest.

Please contact me at my off SERV address so as not to clog the SERV group.

      Lee, Steve, Ron, Scott,

I just checked the forecast for tomorrow. The wind is a problem. The
forecast surface wind (Gainesville) at our arrival time at Leeward is
260 @ 14G22. The runways are 18/36. That is an 80 degree cross wind at
14 gusting to 22. Of concern, but doable. Forecast surface wind back
at Columbia tomorrow afternoon is 250 @ 18G34. For me that is a 60
      degree crosswind gusting to 34.

I'm sure it would be no problem, but gusts to 34 is a little more
excitement than I care for. As much as I want to make this trip, I
      think I must cancel.

The next weather update will be 7:00 PM this evening. I plan to check
it again then, but at this point I am out.

Now watch! The forecast will be wrong, the wind will die down, and I
      will be POed.

      Ken

Just let me know then, Ken if the weather cooperates. I'm a taildragger
too (with a light tail at that!). I'm as worried about taxiing in big
      gusts as anything else!

      Regards,

      Hi All,
Just looked at the weather. I'm gonna check again after 7pm,
but it looks like Scott is out for Saturday. Would have to
move a meeting, but would like to fly on Sunday if the winds
      let up a little bit.
