      Hi Folks,

Sorry, did not get to see any of you at the Leeward Ranch Flyin. The air park
really did it up well and while I probably could not afford the door on some of
the homes there, the folks were down to earth and really seemed to enjoy the
RV crowd. I'll be returning next year. I saw Eskill and thanked him for the
invite, he expressed disappointment that more of the SERV did not make it down
      - but of course understood. There looked to about 80 RVs there which apparently
was down from last year due to the wind. It was interesting to see a "Cubby"
copy of the J3 fly in with all of that wind.

Yes, it was a bit windy, forecast of gusts to 40 MPH which I don't believe happened
      - but windy enough for me. No accidents, no incidents but clearly the gusts
were tossing aircraft about on take off. Smart guys stayed low below the
house line until they had the speed then punched up through the burbles. A few
got a bad case of the wobbles about tree top height, I think one may have had
to hurry home to check this underwear {:>) - but, the vast majority of the RV
fliers simply coped with the skill level you would expect.

50 kt headwinds at 6500 MSL when I took off Friday to go down, try dropping down
to 4500 after Columbia airspace was passed but rougher than a cob there so after
about three bounces of head off canopy, I climbed back to 6500 and just bit
the headwind bullet. Winds started to moderate in South Ga and was not too
      bad after that.

But coming back was nicer - made it back in 2.45 great day for flying (well, a
bit windy - but, I'll take it).

A fun time was had by all (12) at strand airport, n.
myrtle beach. 78 degrees and tolerable winds,
probably better than the rest of the coming week.
James found out that the beach hasn't learned any more
than stantons about BBQ. oh, well, 4/2 we get to have
the best at your gathering in Columbia. Thx to all who

      3rd ...

Good to get away to a new place for lunch. Good to fly and meet flying
      friends.

It was also really nice to get to meet several "Mrs.".

      180+ knots going. Sometimes 120Kts - returning.

Interesting landing at KCUB due to the 90 degree DIRECT crosswind at 12-14
gusting to ?? with occasional quartering tailwind. (Len and Larry will
appreciate this). Forgot to call Patty to say the plane was ready for her to
do some T&G's. (But it was NOT a good time for that anyway).

By the way, where we went really was a SEAFOOD place and not a BBQ place.
      :-)

I think Steve (my passenger) enjoyed the trip as well.

Gotta get in some practice soon!

      James

I'm looking forward to meeting y'all. The beach was pretty crowded
yesterday. Seems like traffic is picking up earlier than usual this
year. Had to wait about 10 minutes to get lunch at Chic-Fil-A.

Sorry for the email glitches. Apparently *SOME* of my emails were not
going out. I reset to a different SMTP server (which I probably should
have been using in the first place) and... emeril says it best! *BAM!*

      Sorry for any duplicates.

My wife and I really enjoyed meeting all of you!

I'm now even more certain that a Vans is for me and thanks to Len
Legett, I now know that I will fit in an RV-8. Still need to diet
though! That's like a free gross weight increase!

I now have a new mission in life: James has yet to taste *MY* BBQ, which
really *IS* the best. Slow cooked over charcoal for 12 hours. Juicy,
tender and savory beyond belief. One day, you *will* have the pleasure.

Nice meeting you Robbie and Greta.

If you get a chance, go down to Sun-N-Fun and take a look at the various RVs
and talk to the many wonderful people. I know you (and Greta) are already
"sold" but that will surely seal the deal. It will simply a matter of
      "when".

Regarding your offer, you've got yourself a DEAL Robbie!! :-)

I am *always* open to finding better BBQ!

      James
