I'll be in my basement flying my rivet gun.
Anyone who feels like they would rather buck rivets than go to S-n-F is
welcome to come over and help.

I just bought a pair of ACS swivel air vents from Aircraft Spruce (the kind
that cost about $55 each), and am unsure how they will connect to SCAT
tubing. I am just working on the canopy and panel on my -6A, so I haven't
used any SCAT tubing yet, but it seems to me that I need 3/8" or more of a
flange protruding from the back of the vent so I can get the SCAT and a hose
clamp firmly seated. The ACS air vent only has a little shoulder around
3/16" long. Am I missing a piece? Neither ACS nor Aircraft Spruce has been
of any help.
Also, the mounting flange on these vents is curious. There are four
countersunk mounting holes on the flange, so it must be designed to be
mounted on top of some underlying panel. What's curious is that the back
side of the flange, the side that contacts the panel, is chamfered, not the
front side that you would see. Again, am I missing something?

Richard,
If the air vents that you are referring to are Aircraft Spruce P/N 05-00779
or 05-00787 then you will also need an aluminum duct Aircraft Spruce P/N
10350-8 for a 2" ID duct. See page 123 of the 2004-2005 catalog.

There are different adapters you can get for attaching the duct. I think I
got mine at ACS.
