I took Mike Barbee's advice and flew to Cheraw (47J), SC this morning to get my
prop dynamically balance. Wendell Hall (FB0) was great to work with even thought
my rotary gearbox combination turned out to be a much tougher nut to crack
than the normal direct drive. He worked at it for 2 hours whereas he could
have probably done a Lycoming in 30 minutes or less.
In any case, he reduced the vibration from 0.65 IPS to less than 0.15 IPS and the
aircraft felt much smoother. Mike paid $100, but I was not going to take
2 hours of his time for that price, so offered him $150 which he found very agreeable.
Still $100 (or more) less than most places and got a nice hour long
flight on a beautiful morning.
So just wanted to let the list know that I think its a great place to get your
prop balanced. Also he has some VERY interesting experimental aircraft there
- one powered by a 700 HP Walters turboprop. Ask him about it if you stop in,
I am certain he will show it to you.

That's an awesome show... I went 2 years ago.. enjoyed
it very much..
I don't believe you can fly in there. Technically you
can't even drive in :) They have you park way out
then they bus you to the tarmac...
way too many people though.. tens of thousands
easily..
